Thomas Webering, DNP, ARNP, comes from a long line of medical professionals, with family members practicing a range of specialties as far back as the early 1900s. That includes his mother, a nurse, who cared for Webering and his brother after a traumatic childhood biking accident.

“She remained calm and knew exactly what needed to be done,” he said. “That was the moment I started thinking about a career in medicine.”

Today, Webering cares for pulmonology patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic - 1 Edmundson Place on the Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital campus. His wide-ranging clinical interests include asthma, critical care, longevity, microbiology, nutrition, obstructive sleep apnea, pharmacology, preventive medicine and nutraceuticals – the use of food-derived products, like supplements.

“I also strongly believe in the power of positivity, mindfulness and gratitude to greatly impact a person’s health,” he said. “I emphasize the importance of reducing stress through exercise, yoga, meditation and breathing techniques to enhance overall well-being.”

Webering believes there is no one-size-fits-all solution in medicine. Each patient – and their care – is unique.

“The Meaning of Care is all about addressing each patient’s needs, priorities and circumstances while considering the scientific basis of a recommended treatment,” he said. “I love caring for my patients and seeing how that care positively affects them, their families and the community.”

Outside of the clinic, Webering enjoys spending time with his spouse and their border collie. His personal interests are also diverse: skiing, hiking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, spending time outdoors, reading, playing the cello and guitar, and focusing on his mental and physical health.
