Swetha Pedavally, MD

Swetha Pedavally, MD, knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. After watching her grandfather struggle to receive appropriate care in her home country of India, she decided to become the first physician in her family.

Dr. Pedavally, a neurologist with Methodist Physicians Clinic, is particularly interested in helping patients with epilepsy and complex headaches. She also enjoys performing electromyography (EMG) and headache-related procedures ñ including botulinum toxin (Botox) injections, nerve blocks and trigger point injections – and she likes interpreting long-term electroencephalography (EEG) results for patients in the Critical Care Unit.

She understands that patients suffering from chronic conditions may have seen multiple providers before meeting her, and she believes that her training and experience puts her in a position to provide much-needed relief.

"I feel fortunate to be helpful to them when they're in need," Dr. Pedavally said.

She believes that The Meaning of Care means that "we will try our best for our patients and offer all the tools we have to improve their well-being."

Outside of work, Dr. Pedavally enjoys traveling with her family, cooking and practicing yoga.
