Steffi Emig Witt, MD, believes that as a primary care provider, she’s responsible for educating patients about a healthy lifestyle.

“If I could prescribe friendship, exercise and good nutrition, those would be my favorite medications,” she said.

Dr. Emig Witt’s favorite part of being a family medicine provider at Methodist Physicians Clinic is getting to know her patients.

“I really treasure the relationships I build with my patients,” she said. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see someone who may be struggling physically, mentally or emotionally and be a part of their healing journey.”

Dr. Emig Witt loves the variety of her days, but she’s drawn toward caring for young women and older adults. She enjoys completing small procedures like skin biopsies, cyst removals, stitching and Nexplanon and IUD placements.

She believes that The Meaning of Care involves paying attention to the little moments.

“It’s getting to know patients and helping them celebrate their personal goals, medical goals and everything in between,” she said.

Outside of work, Dr. Emig Witt loves spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoys being outdoors and reading. She believes that “movement is medicine,” which is why she goes on daily walks with her husband.

“I think getting up and moving every day is really critical to keeping your longevity in life,” she said.
