Sarah C. Petersen, APRN

As a palliative care provider, Sarah Petersen, APRN, enjoys the challenges and learning opportunities each day brings. But more than anything, she loves being an advocate for patients.

"It's a privilege to be able to step into the lives of someone going through a difficult time and hopefully help make it easier," said Petersen, who cares for patients at Methodist Hospital. "I love getting to know patients on a personal level and helping them navigate their health care choices in a personalized way."

Her interest in medicine blossomed as she watched family members care for others ì including her mother, who graduated from nursing school when Petersen was a child. Now, she's carrying on their legacy while showing patients The Meaning of Care.

"My patients can expect compassionate care with a provider who's willing to listen to them and treat them with kindness and respect as they navigate their health," she said.

Outside of work, Petersen can be found spending time with her husband, four children and two dogs. She enjoys going to her kids' activities, reading and planning the family's next adventure.
