Sam Lewis, NP-C, believes every patient’s health journey is unique. The nurse practitioner will never forget caring for a young patient who struggled with severe acne for years.
“After a few months of treatment and support, their skin cleared, and they told me they finally felt comfortable looking in the mirror again,” said Lewis, part of Methodist’s Skin Renewal Services team. “Moments like that remind me why I chose this path.”
Lewis was drawn to dermatology because of its blend of medicine and aesthetics, as well as the opportunity to make a visible, often immediate impact on patients. She has a strong interest in patient-centered education and procedures that enhance confidence and self-image.
“I watched family members struggle with skin conditions,” she said. “Seeing how much proper care improved their skin and confidence made me realize just how life-changing dermatologic treatment can be – not just physically, but emotionally. When someone feels good in their own skin again, it’s incredibly powerful.”
Lewis strives to show each patient The Meaning of Care, connecting with them through active listening, clear communication and a warm, nonjudgmental presence.
“The Meaning of Care means going beyond the clinical – truly seeing the patient as a person. It’s about empathy, connection and delivering care with heart.”
When she’s not caring for patients, Lewis enjoys traveling, skiing and spending time with family and friends. She believes in balancing work and life with humor and adventure.
