Dr. Misty Janssen, a family medicine physician at Methodist Fremont Health Family Care, wants her patients to be their healthiest selves. And, she said, "I practice what I preach!"
She's serious about making nutrition and physical fitness priorities in her own life, and she hopes to motivate her patients to do the same. At the same time, she knows how difficult health challenges can be, and she tries to put herself in her patients' shoes.
"I enjoy really getting to know people," said Dr. Janssen, a Fremont native. "Knowing about their background, their family and their career because all of that affects the choices they make and their health."
Dr. Janssen became interested in medicine in junior high. She completed medical school, her family medicine residency and a rural procedures fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She earned her bachelor's degree in science from Wayne State College. She returned to the Fremont clinic after over a decade with CHI in Omaha.
Dr. Janssen said she loves living and working in the Fremont community. She said that when a patient visits her, they can expect kindness, respect and a teammate on their health journey.
"I want them to know that I have their best interests at heart," she said. "I have their back."
Outside of work, Dr. Janssen's greatest joy is spending time with loved ones. She spends as much time as she can outdoors with her children and significant other.

Doctor Janssen is so patient and kind. She truly listens to my concerns and provides guidance. She makes me feel like a team and she has reviewed my chart before she even walked through the door. That says alot about her care and concern when I had not seen her for over 6 months.
