Michaela Haddock, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, was inspired by her sister, also a nurse practitioner, to pursue a career in medicine.

“I loved hearing about her patient experiences, and her passion for caring for others was contagious,” she said. “The best part is sharing this profession with her now, continuing to learn from her and being inspired by her career.” 

Haddock, who specializes in neurology at Methodist Physicians Clinic, believes the best part of her job is “the intersection of patients’ lives with my own experiences as a provider.” She knows how much of an impact she can have on her patients and understands the importance of learning from them, as well.

Previously an emergency department nurse, Haddock said her career was influenced by working with patients who suffered strokes and seizures.

“The tireless efforts to preserve life and function for the individuals affected has inspired me to continue working with this special population to help them achieve their goals of care,” she said.

Haddock loves that medicine continues to change with advancements in technology, and that it combines science with human experiences.

“Working in medicine, I get to have that intimate bond working with patients directly while continuing to learn and grow through continuing education,” she said.

When she’s not caring for patients, Haddock loves reading and taking long walks around Omaha lakes.
