Marjorie J Heier, MD

Marjorie Heier, MD, knew from a young age that she wanted to be a doctor. Her interest in medicine only grew after she volunteered at the hospital in Schuyler, Nebraska, during high school.

“I loved working with patients, problem-solving and finding ways to keep people healthy long term – and I still do,” she said.

Now a family medicine provider at Methodist Physicians Clinic - Papillion, Dr. Heier strives to offer care that’s tailored to each patient’s needs.

“Personalized care is important to me,” she said. “I love hearing what the patient has to say, the story they have to tell and their description of what their needs are. It does take time to get to know patients individually, and it takes work on the part of both the patient and the physician, but it’s really worth it in the end.”

Dr. Heier is also passionate about lifestyle medicine and is a diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.

“Changes in lifestyle – including diet, exercise, sleep habits, social contacts, mental health and the use of risky substances – can lead to longer term quality of life. And honestly, we're not necessarily talking about big changes. Sometimes tiny changes to habits today can make a huge difference to where you're going to end up.”

Whatever a patient’s situation, she wants to be their partner on their health journey.

“I want to know their story when they come in,” she said. “I want them to know that I care. And I want them to know that I'm willing to put in the work.”

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Heier enjoys spending time with her three grown children, biking and traveling.
