Madison Blankenship, APRN

Growing up in southwest Iowa, Madison Blankenship, ARNP, played multiple sports and was involved with 4-H. She also was exposed to health care and medicine early in her life after her father was diagnosed with leukemia.

Inspired by her supportive community as well as the compassionate care provided to her father, she knew she wanted a career where she could help others. As a nurse practitioner at Methodist Physicians Clinic, Blankenship enjoys treating patients of all ages with a variety of injuries and illnesses. She also likes giving back to the community.

"I enjoy being a trusted person who people can turn to when their loved ones are hurt or sick," she said. "There's no better feeling than knowing you helped make a difference in someone's life."

During her clinical training, Blankenship was encouraged by the way everyone at Methodist put the needs of the patient first – an experience that helped steer her toward joining the organization.

"The Meaning of Care means building relationships with patients by getting to know who they are, what their goals are and how I can help them as a provider," she said.

Blankenship believes that creating relationships with her patients starts with effective communication.

"I make sure to sit down with my patients and truly listen to their concerns and questions," she said. "I strive to ensure I understand my patients and that my patients understand my recommendations."

Outside of work, Blankenship enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends.
