Kristina Haase, PA-C, will never forget the first time she held a person's heart. It was the first open-heart surgery she assisted with.

That "incredible feeling" isn't only felt in the operating room. As a physician assistant specializing in cardiothoracic surgery with Methodist Physicians Clinic, Haase experiences it every day on the job.

"I like knowing that I'm helping people live healthier and hopefully happier lives," she said. "Helping patients get back to the doing the activities they enjoy is very gratifying."

Haase chose a career in medicine after being inspired by her mother's work as a nurse. She chose to work for Methodist after seeing the care her sister received on several occasions.

"My family and I have been so impressed and happy with the care she's received from everyone at Methodist ñ doctors, nurses and therapists. I'm proud to be part of a health system with such a wonderful reputation."

To her, The Meaning of Care is just as much about the way patients feel as it is the treatment they're given.

"It's doing everything possible to make patients who are feeling scared and vulnerable feel safe, respected, and confident that they will receive excellent care."

In her free time, Haase enjoys running, reading, gardening, traveling and attending sporting events.
