Working for Methodist was a no-brainer for Krista Hummel, MSN, WHNP-BC, who fondly remembers the births of her three younger brothers and life-saving care her mother received at Methodist Hospital.
“I’ve known Methodist was a special place since childhood,” she said.
After spending more than eight years as an operating room nurse at Methodist Women’s Hospital, Hummel felt called to advance her career. Now a women’s health nurse practitioner at the Methodist Physicians Clinic Women’s Center, she’s passionate about gynecologic surgery as well as fertility and postpartum care.
“I want my patients to know that I will always advocate for them,” she said. “They will always be treated with respect and equality – no matter their backgrounds or beliefs.”
Hummel enjoys spending her free time with her husband, two children and four pets. She likes traveling, doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening and caring for her houseplants. The “diehard Husker fan” also enjoys watching sports – especially Nebraska volleyball and football.

This was my last OB appt before having baby and I appreciated that Krista truly heard what I wanted. I had had two inductions prior to this pregnancy and both times we had to use the balloon to get me dilated and I didnt want that with this one. It was looking like I was going to be induced again and Krista gave me another option we could try to get me more dilated. She told my doctor that we discussed this option which my doctor noted. I wasn't aware of this other option in my other pregnancies so I appreciated that Krista took the time to inform me so I could make the best decision for me. She also was able to perform a membrane sweep, which I credit to me going into labor naturally, avoiding the induction all together. Thank you Krista for a wonderful experience not only with you in the doctor's office but also helping me get the delivery I always wanted!

The NP definitely was nice and didnt seem to rush me too much. She answered my questions best she could. Made me feel comfortable for my first appointment with her and first biopsy . She didn't go over the top with explanations but not terrible either
