For Kimberly Ward, APRN, WHNP-BC, caring for patients involves communication and collaboration.

"I like to take the time to really listen to my patients' needs," said Ward, who specializes in urogynecology at Methodist Physicians Clinic. "I want them to feel heard. Together we can review their plan of care and discuss why it was chosen for them. I want them to feel empowered in making decisions in their health care."

Ward was raised in a large family of women, and she knew early on that she was interested in women's health.

"I wanted to be a resource for women to help them understand more about their health throughout their lives," she said.

Her work now allows just that, and she's passionate about providing patients with the holistic approach to health care that Methodist is known for.

"The Meaning of Care means tending to the needs of people who walk through the door, whether they be emotional, spiritual or physical," she said. "Small gestures can have a big impact."

Outside of work, Ward enjoys traveling and sharing experiences with her family.
