Kilie J. Donovan, MD

Dr. Kilie Donovan is a hospitalist at Methodist Hospital and geriatrician at the Geriatric Assessment Clinic at Methodist Physicians Clinic Indian Hills.

She earned her bachelor's degree from Wayne State College and completed her medical training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). She was an internal medicine resident at UNMC and completed a geriatric/hospitalist fellowship at UNMC and the Omaha VA Medical Center.

Caring for people comes naturally for Dr. Donovan, whose father is a pediatrician and mother is a nurse. She found herself helping out at her parents' clinic from a young age.

"I feel like I really grew up in the clinic," she said. "I learned how to be a good caring provider and to be patient-centered. I learned that from my parents and got my love of medicine from them."

Dr. Donovan is particularly interested in helping patients have successful transitions of care, managing caregiver burden and reducing polypharmacy, the simultaneous use of multiple medications by a patient. But her favorite part of the job is getting to know her patients and their families.

"Forming that trusting relationship is the best part of medicine," she said. "That's why I went to medical school and why I'm a doctor."

Dr. Donovan and her husband are passionate about animal rescue and rehabilitation, and they have three rescue dogs. She also enjoys rollerblading, hand embroidery, water and snow skiing, and spending time with her family.
