Kate Spellerberg, APRN

Kate Spellerberg, APRN-CNS, AGCNS-BC, ONC, developed an interest in oncology care during her mother’s cancer journey. Her decision to specialize in hereditary cancer genetics was shaped by her personal experience with genetic testing and the insight it provided her family.

A clinical nurse specialist with Methodist Fremont Health’s Hereditary Cancer Risk Program, Spellerberg is especially passionate about empowering patients with knowledge, identifying hereditary cancer syndromes, developing individualized screening plans and helping families take proactive steps toward lifelong health.

Her care philosophy is built on the belief that every patient deserves to feel valued, understood and supported.

“When I meet with patients and caregivers, they have my undivided attention,” she said. “I don’t ever want a patient to feel unsure or unsettled about their health care.”

Growing up in Omaha, Spellerberg always viewed Methodist as a place of compassion and integrity, and The Meaning of Care has long resonated with her.

“It means recognizing each patient’s uniqueness and going above and beyond to maximize their outcomes.”

Outside of cancer genetics, Spellerberg is a tai chi instructor. She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, going on walks, and playing golf.
