JoHannah McKibben, MSN, RN, FNP-C, had two major influences on her decision to pursue a career in medicine: her grandmother, who also worked in health care, and her own experiences of loss at a young age.

“Witnessing both her dedication and the compassion of those who cared for my family instilled in me a deep appreciation for the role of love, empathy and human connection in health care,” she said.

McKibben, a family nurse practitioner who grew up in rural Iowa, feels at home caring for patients at Methodist Physicians Clinic – Glenwood.

“These are my roots, and I’m excited to serve the community I know and love,” she said. “I provide a holistic approach to health care, with a particular focus on women’s health, to offer comprehensive, patient-centered care.”

With every patient she sees, McKibben strives to create a safe space where patients feel heard and respected.

“Open communication and honesty are key,” she said. “I build relationships by taking the time to listen to each patient’s story, involving them in decision-making and approaching care with compassion and empathy.”

She added: “I want my patients to know that I will support them in their health choices and goals. My goal is to guide them toward a healthy, fulfilling life.”

Outside of work, McKibben enjoys running, especially with others. She’s also a proud dog mom to Tito, a miniature dachshund, and George, an English bulldog.
