Jessica Gintonio, DNP, ACNPC-AG, pursued a career in medicine because of her passion for making a difference in the lives of others.

“The idea of supporting people during some of their most vulnerable moments has always resonated with me,” she said. “Medicine offers a unique opportunity to not only heal people physically but also provide comfort, guidance and hope.”

As a nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology at Methodist Physicians Clinic, Gintonio believes that trust is the most important aspect of the patient-provider relationship.

“Without trust, patients may seem timid about recommendations and less likely to follow their care plan,” she said. “Trust is built through active listening and giving patients the time and space to share about their experiences.”

Gintonio enjoys getting to know patients, making a lasting impact on their lives and seeing them leave in better health than when they arrived at the clinic or hospital.

Having worked at Methodist for seven years as a nurse before becoming a provider, she believes the organization excels at being present for its patients, staff and their families.

“The Meaning of Care means that we provide patient-centered, focused, excellent and compassionate care,” she said. “It means recognizing that each patient has fears, hopes and their own unique story.”

Outside of work, Gintonio loves spending time outdoors with her husband, two dogs and family and friends.
