Jean Beumler, APRN, FNP-BC, ACHPN, enjoys working as a palliative care nurse practitioner because she believes it's a privilege to care for patients and their families during some of their most challenging times.

"I strive to be the extra support they need to live as well as they can while coping with their unique medical situations," she said.

Beumler started down the path toward a health care career at a young age when she witnessed her grandfather receiving cancer treatment.

"I was so impressed with all the health care workers caring for him, the various treatments provided and the management of his suffering," she said.

She believes that The Meaning of Care means "always keeping our patients at the center of what we do" and "caring for the whole person, body, mind and spirit with excellence and compassion."

When she's not caring for patients, Beumler enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, traveling, and following college sports.
