Greg Precht, MD, has always been interested in the science behind medicine. But he's driven by the relationships he builds with patients of all ages and with a range of conditions.
"I'm interested in family medicine mostly because you get a lot of patient interaction," said Dr. Precht, a physician at Methodist Physicians Clinic. "You really get to know people, get to know the families, the situations that they're in. I also enjoy the wide breadth of medicine that we get to practice. You see a lot of things coming in the door, and that keeps it interesting."
Having honest discussions with patients about their health is key to getting them the best care, he said. And that goes both ways.
"I do my best to explain to people, this is why I think this might be a good treatment, although here are your other options," he said. "On the patient side, it's being open about their life and where they're at."
Ultimately, Dr. Precht wants his patients to know that he truly cares about their health and wants to make a positive impact on their lives.
"It's rewarding when you see somebody back in the clinic and see that we've truly made a change an effect on their life for the better. I look forward to that every day."

I did not have a primary care doctor at 50 years old. I had no intentions of getting one. If it wasn't for Dr. Precht, I likely wouldn't ever see a doctor until I was very sick. He definitely changed my opinion about the medical field. There should be a lot more doctors like Dr. Precht in the practice.

Dr. Precht is the best. I followed him from his last clinic to his current because of his attention to detail and care for his patients. He makes sure every question is answered. You truly feel "heard" when working with Dr. Precht. You can tell he wants what is best for his patients.

The only hesitation I have in recommending Dr. Precht is that he is already so busy with the patients he currently has- so purely selfish reason on my part. :) He is a wonderful listener who truly makes you feel like he genuinely cares. He is the most thorough doctor I have ever had- reading my file carefully and making sure we cover everything.
