What does Erika Walsh, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, like most about her job?

"My ability to impact lives!" Walsh, a nurse practitioner at the Methodist Physicians Clinic Women's Center, said one of her favorite memories is catching a patient's cancer early through routine screening ñ leading to immediate treatment and a positive outcome.

But Walsh is just as excited about all the ways she cares for patients day in and day out.

"As a women's health provider, I love that I get to assist women from adolescence to adulthood," she said. "I've always had a passion for women's health and education. And I love that I can combine them and teach other women, whether it's about recommended screenings, medication options like hormone replacement or contraception choices, or questions about their bodies."

She believes the best patient-provider relationships are built on trust, kindness and empathy.

"I want my patients to know that they will always be heard and that I treat all of my patients as I would want my own family and friends to be treated," she said.

A military wife, Walsh met her husband in Delaware, and they traveled the country before settling down in Nebraska. They love taking trips with their three children. Walsh is also a fan of the beach, interior design and baking fun cakes.
