Desiree Hericks, MSN, CNM, RNC-OB, C-EFM, is a certified nurse-midwife at Methodist Physicians Clinic Women's Center Council Bluffs.
After graduating from Creighton University, Hericks earned her Master of Science in nursing and completed an accredited nurse-midwifery education program at Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Kentucky.
Her interest in health care came at an early age.
"My sister got really sick with meningitis when we were very little," she said. "From that point on, I knew medicine was what I was going to do."
Aside from midwifery, Hericks ñ a former Methodist nurse – is certified in inpatient obstetrics and electronic fetal monitoring. A military child, she grew up across the country and later served as a nurse in the U.S. Army. Prior to her return to Methodist, she worked for Metro OB-GYN in Council Bluffs.
"I worked as a labor and delivery nurse for Methodist for seven years," she said, "so I feel like I am coming home."
Hericks enjoys spending time with her daughter and being with friends. She likes to travel when she can.

I would choose Des over and over again to be my midwife. She listened to me every appointment, she gave me options when it came to how I wanted my birth plan to go. She always had a positive attitude at my appointments. She was amazing at explaining things if I didn't understand.
