Brandi Neesen, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, will never forget the moment she decided to pursue a career in health care.

“I was in college and saw a baby being delivered,” she said. “It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen, and shortly after I changed my major to nursing.”

Two other powerful experiences that helped shape her career were her first job on a hospital’s neurology floor, where she enjoyed the interactions she had with patients, and later shadowing a neurology specialist while in graduate school.

“Shadowing a neurology nurse practitioner reminded me of how much I enjoyed that work and how the brain and body work together,” she said. Now a nurse practitioner specializing in neurology at Methodist Physicians Clinic, Neesen still treasures time spent with patients, and she strives for relationships built on trust, communication and teamwork. She especially enjoys caring for stroke patients.

“As a health care provider, I thrive on making people feel better,” she said. “I enjoy building relationships with my patients and hearing about their lives outside of their health care concerns. Not only do I get to help them, but it also feels like I’m catching up with an old friend.”

In her free time, Neesen can be found spending time with family and friends, reading, attending her children’s activities, and cheering on the Huskers.
