For Austin Clark, DNP, APRN, nothing is more important than building a trusting relationship with his patients.

“Trust forms the foundation for effective communication, collaborative decision-making and optimal care,” said Clark, a nurse practitioner specializing in neurology at Methodist Physicians Clinic. “I prioritize building trust by actively listening to my patients, providing clear and empathetic explanations, and respecting their individual needs and preferences.”

With that trust in place, he said, he can strive to go beyond simply providing medical guidance.

“I find deep fulfillment in combining advanced clinical knowledge with compassionate care to empower patients and improve health outcomes in a meaningful, lasting way,” he said. “The most meaningful moments of my career have been helping patients and their families navigate challenging diagnoses, and providing them the compassion and support they need.”

Clark – who believes in a team approach – is proud to be at Methodist, where there’s a systemwide commitment to providing compassionate, personalized care.

Outside of work, Clark enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife – “my high school sweetheart and best friend” – have two children.
