Surgical oncologist Asish Patel, MD, treats a variety of liver, bile duct, pancreatic, gastrointestinal, endocrine, soft tissue and skin cancers.

His interest in medicine followed an overseas health trip in college, during which he learned about all the necessary facets of providing quality care. At Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center, he said, quality care comes standard.

"Methodist provides state-of-the-art, patient-centered, multidisciplinary cancer care," Dr. Patel said. "I'm here because of the team of providers that's committed to serving our community."

While he was initially drawn to the complex nature of surgery during his medical school rotations, he's since developed an even stronger passion for the relationships he builds with his patients.

"I enjoy spending time with patients and their families so that we can determine a treatment plan that meets their goals," he said. "Seeing a patient regain strength after a difficult treatment and get back to enjoying their life is the most satisfying part of my profession."

He promises each of his patients skilled care as he works closely with them and other members of their care team to devise the most personalized treatment plan possible.
