Amy Meeks, PA-C, a cardiothoracic surgery physician assistant with Methodist Physicians Clinic, finds her role very fulfilling.

"I'm able to help make a huge impact on a patient's life in a short amount of time," she said. "I work with a highly specialized team, and the people I work with on a daily basis make this profession so rewarding."

She has a particular interest in assisting with beating heart surgery to treat coronary artery disease.

Meeks said that one of the most rewarding moments of her career came when she was part of a team that started performing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures, which allow patients to receive intervention after they were deemed nonsurgical candidates.

She wants patients to understand that they'll receive compassionate care from a team of experts.

"They will be taken care of by a team – one that I am extremely fortunate to be a part of  that has a wealth of knowledge and experience," she said. "We work together to make good clinical decisions and strive to have the best outcomes possible."

She believes that The Meaning of Care is a "vested interest and concern for what you're going through."

"We'll do everything we can to help you and your family," she said.

Outside of work, Meeks enjoys watching her two kids do what they love, which includes sports and music.
