At the age of eight, Dr. Amanda Votruba's grandmother asked her the question that would set her career in motion: "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Confident in her response, Dr. Votruba replied, "I want to be a doctor!" That confidence never disappeared.
Intent on making her proclamation a reality, Dr. Votruba completed medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and her residency through a joint program at UNMC and Creighton University Medical Center.
Dr. Votruba loves children, and seeing how dynamic they are makes her happy to go into work every single day. Early in her career, people would tell her that her love of caring for kids would lead to her becoming a pediatrician. Their prediction came true, as Dr. Votruba loves treating children on a daily basis. She also loves a good challenge ñ since many of her patients are too young to communicate with her, she loves the task of figuring out how to go about treating them.
In her free time, Dr. Votruba enjoys spending time with her family. A mother of four children, she is constantly busy keeping up with each child's activities. When she has time to herself, Dr. Votruba enjoys working on her physical fitness, often running or wake boarding to stay in shape.
