Alireza Mirmiran, MD

Dr. Alireza Mirmiran is a radiation oncologist at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center and Methodist Jennie Edmundson Cancer Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of California San Diego in 2003. He completed his internship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and completed his radiation oncology residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore in 2009.

The son of doctors, Dr. Mirmiran knew he wanted to practice medicine at a young age. He loves that medicine is both an art and a science.

"It's the perfect tool for helping people when they need it most," he said.

Dr. Mirmiran believes his role as a physician is to inform, educate and explain. He takes into account his patients' value systems, social situations, overall health and expectations.

He aims to treat patients with a cheerful demeanor.

"There is always reason for hope, and a positive attitude can often lift a patient's spirits," he said.

Outside of work, Dr. Mirmiran enjoys time with his family, which includes his four children. He also enjoys a good book, Husker football and music by The Beatles.
