Dr. Adam D. Wells is a pulmonologist with Pulmonary Medicine Specialists at Methodist Physicians Clinic Westroads Office Park. He earned a bachelor's degree in human biology at Chadron State College. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) before completing an internal medicine residency there. He also was internal medicine chief resident at UNMC/Omaha VA Medical Center and completed a pulmonary/critical care medicine fellowship at UNMC.
Dr. Wells previously was a pulmonologist and assistant professor at the Creighton University School of Medicine.
He was drawn to medicine and caring for others at a young age after watching his father in action. "My dad was a physician assistant in a small town, so I got to grow up seeing him take care of all the people in a very small farming community," said Dr. Wells, who is from St. Paul, Nebraska. "I kind of fell in love with the idea of taking care of patients over a long period of time. Having the relationships that he had with them was kind of a cool thing."
Relationships are important to Dr. Wells, as shown by one of his favorite memories. It involved the family of a patient he cared for. Months later he crossed paths with the family at an event, and they approached him.
"Having them say thank you, and to still be remembered after all that time is a good reminder of how much of an imprint providers can leave on their patients and families," he said. "I think that's a good reminder to always make sure I'm doing my best job for patients."
In his free time, Dr. Wells enjoys spending time with family, collecting vinyl records, listening to live music, traveling and cheering for the Oakland Raiders and Husker football and basketball teams.
