Jack DeMoss, MD, likes the challenges and continual learning that come from caring for patients. But it’s the impact he can make on them that really drives him.

“The most fulfilling part of my job on a day-to-day basis is feeling like I get to help people,” said Dr. DeMoss, a family medicine provider at Methodist Physicians Clinic – North Streams. “That's why a lot of us get into medicine, and that's what keeps a lot of us going. The complex cases, the variety – it’s all nice. But ultimately, I like connecting with people and helping to solve their problems.”

Dr. DeMoss has special interests in sleep medicine and joint injections. Regardless of a patient’s needs, he wants to build a long-term relationship to maintain and better their health.

“These are people I’m going to know for decades – taking care of them and their kids – and that’s very valuable to me,” he said. “Some of the most fulfilling interactions I've had are when patients haven’t been able to figure out what's going on. We have a few visits, jump into some labs, jump into some literature, and eventually we arrive at a diagnosis and fix the problem. And now that weight is off their shoulders, and they can pay more attention to health maintenance topics they've been putting off.”

For Dr. DeMoss, that’s what The Meaning of Care is all about – going above and beyond in all facets of care.
“If you’re a patient at Methodist, you’re going to get compassionate care. It’s also going to be thorough and extend beyond just diagnosis and treatment. We go the extra mile for our patients.”

Outside of the clinic, Dr. DeMoss enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and dog. He also considers himself a movie fanatic and has assigned a rating to every film he’s seen.
