For Thomas Wolf, MD, who grew up in North Bend, there's nothing better than working in a community close to home where he can make a difference in people's lives.
"I feel very blessed to be close to my home and my family, and also to see the trust that patients place in me," said Dr. Wolf, a family medicine provider at Methodist Physicians Clinic. "I get to see a lot of people that I knew growing up as patients now, and I find it very rewarding trying to improve their overall health and wellness."
Dr. Wolf's interests in medicine include endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGDs) – "trying to find small problems before they become big problems" ñ as well as treating chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. He is also involved in research, including clinical trials for vaccines, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, migraines and chronic constipation.
"I love the fact that no one day is the exact same as the next day," he said. "I can be helping to perform a C-section and see a newborn baby. I see one of my patients intermittently who's 106 years old. So I really enjoy the variety. I don't know what's going to be next."
Regardless of who he's caring for or his research, he has one goal: "I strive every day to try and improve the health and wellness of my patients. That's The Meaning of Care."
Away from work, Dr. Wolf enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, exercising and being outdoors.
"I enjoy being in this community, and I appreciate the opportunity to do what I do every single day," he said.
