Dr. Rebecca Lancaster has always had a love for medicine and a desire to care for people. However, she initially did not know what she wanted to specialize in. During medical school at Creighton University's School of Medicine, she loved every rotation, from delivering newborns to treating chronic diseases. It was difficult for her to choose just one practice.
Wanting to combine many of her favorite aspects of health care while treating a broad range of patients and ages, Dr. Lancaster determined family medicine would be a perfect fit. She went on to complete her residency at Clarkson Family Medicine. Today, Dr. Lancaster is a family medicine doctor at Methodist Physicians Clinic.
It's all of those little moments that mean so much to the patients. It's wonderful to celebrate with them, and to think that I had even a shred of something to do with that is pretty special to me. It's one of the things that keeps me doing what I do every day.
Dr. Lancaster is dedicated to providing exceptional care. If a patient presents a problem that is outside of her practice, Dr. Lancaster makes it her mission to research and deliver answers, as well as closely monitor the patient's health. She also strives to develop strong patient relationships. She cares deeply for all of her patients, and loves to celebrate their accomplishments, such as weight loss and the decision to quit smoking.
Dr. Lancaster is also devoted to decreasing the instances of brain injuries from concussions. As a member of ConcussionFocus, she works to increase awareness about concussions and how to appropriately manage them. Additionally, she hopes to increase coordination between coaches, parents, players, schools and health professionals to provide support to young athletes with concussions.
In her free time, Dr. Lancaster enjoys spending time with her family. She also loves staying busy by gardening, cooking, playing her piano and traveling.
