Health care is a family affair for neurologist David Franco, MD. His father was a dentist, his mother was a nurse, and several of his aunts and uncles were nurses and physicians. After his father-in-law was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's, he found his calling in neurology.
"While it was difficult to witness the tragic effects of the disease," he said, "I gained insight into how one's brain makes us who we are as human beings."
What Dr. Franco enjoys most about his profession is building personal relationships with patients and their families and helping them understand the sometimes "frightening and overwhelming" neurological illnesses they may face.
"Patients should know that I'm dedicated to taking the time to listen to them – making my very best effort to make the right diagnosis and treatment plan and then explaining why," he said.
Dr. Franco received his Bachelor of Science in biology at Creighton University and attended medical school at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Born and raised in Omaha, Dr. Franco is dedicated to faith and family. He enjoys spending time with his wife and six children, playing soccer, fishing, rooting for the Bluejays and Huskers, and attending church functions and his children's activities.

Dr. Franco ordered tests I hoped he would order and more, he allowed me to participate in decision making. He explained what he thought was going on and he explained what it was not. That was reassuring.

Both Dr. Franco and Austin (the PA/practioner) were patient and allowed me to explain thoroughly my symptoms and how my headaches had developed and all the treatments I had tried. They made everything I said seem important. They explained symptom treatments clearly and allowed for my input.
